This site is being setup to make available the works of Rowland Baker (1919-1987). During his lifelong study of local history he has established a large collection and it was his wish that this would be accessible to people in one place.

We don't claim expertise in local history ourselves and so it is our intention to make his writing available unchanged as he left it.

Therefore, before you contact us, please be aware of the following:

1. We can't answer any questions about local history.
2. We don't intend to bring Rowland's writing up to date or to make any corrections apart from printing or scanning errors. Rowland meticulously checked his work, although there may be new facts that have since come to light,  we don't feel qualified to arbitrate on any changes so the work will have to remain as it is.
3. There is a lot more of Rowland's collection still to put online.
4. We want to leave Rowland's work to speak for itself.
