previous Up One Level next Boyle Farm - Preface index

Preface

It is not intended that this paper should be just the history of a most delightful house in a most delightful setting, for that alone might be considered rather dull fare. Obviously there must be sections describing bricks and mortar, but these bare bones must be clothed with flesh. The flesh of human existence. The tales and memories of the lives, loves, and reputations of the people who, over the years, have habited within it.

Although Boyle Farm has never known any events of real earth-shattering significance, it has at times basked in minor glory. The personalities with whom it has been associated - who have owned it, rented it, visited it, written about it - in many cases have stories which may be thought well worthy of recalling.
