James Ray, for many years chairman of the East and
West Molesey Urban District Council, who died in 1922, left the sum of £1,000
to provide money to be divided equally, one week before Christmas each year,
among six people male or female of good character of not less than 50 years of
age and having resided in East or West Molesey for not less than five years.
